The Science and Technology is one the important subjects in GCE (O/L) Examination. The data analysis is in Jaffna district; show that there is a marked decline in the performance in this subject and especially in final G. C. E (O/L) examination. The proposed study has been carried at the Meesalai, Veerasingam Maha Vidyalayam at Jaffna district. The relevant data for the study are collected with the help of commissioner of examinations Srilanka. The study methodology is implemented among total of 90 students. They were divided into three types of groups such as stronger group, intermediate group and weaker group. All students were taught a common section in physics in addition half of the students were involved in student oriented discussion. Finally all students were examined with a common testing method. I report that the knowledge and skill of students who involved in the discussion are enhanced significantly than the students who depend merely on class room based teaching.en-USScience educationWeak students in G.C.E.(O/L)Student oriented discussionKnowladge and skills of studentsTeaching and learningPreliminary study for enhancing performance of Physics among weak students in G.C.E.(O/L) through student oriented discussionThesis
