dc.description.abstract | The companies will go for new software solution when the existing information system is ineffective and cannot cater to the emerging requirements. Some companies may develop their own solution and some companies go for off the shelf packages like Enterprise Resource Planning Packages. (ERP) After selecting the package, the company has to implement this, considering the requirement of the business. In this implementation process, programming and database development is merely involved. But knowledge of the database will play an important role in implementation as there are processes like data migration. This project provides a methodology to identify the required database structure, and migrating the required existing information to the ERP solution from existing file formats. This methodology includes six steps as follows. * Identify the physical flow of documents. * Identify logical flow of data by using the dataflow diagram. * Identify the required databases. * Planning for migration process. * Executing the migration process. * Testing the migration process. | |
