Abstract

Copper(I) tetraiodomercurate(lI) (Cu₂HgI₄), phcnylammonium chlorodiiodoplumb ate(Il) (C₆H₅NH₃PbI₂Cl), methylammonium triiodoplumbate( ll) (CH₃NH₃PbI₃) and barium triiodocuprate(1) (BaCuI₃) are solid state compounds . Copper(I) tetraiodomereurate( lI) (Cu₂HgI₄) is used in dye sensitized solid state solar ce ll due to its high ionic conductivity. Phenylamm onium chlorodiiodoplumbate(I I) (C₆H₅NH₃PbI₂Cl) and methylamm onium triiodoplumbate(lI) (CH₃NH₃PbI₃) are used as p-type . solid electrolytes in solid state solar cells. They are also used as photosensitizers with I₃⁻ / 1⁻ liquid electrolyt e. Above compound s were synthesized from solid state reactions and they were characterized from X-ray diffraction. I-V curves were obtained for solar cells which were made with copper(I) tetrai odomercurate(II ) (Cu₂HgI₄), phenylammonium chlorodiiodoplumbate (1 1) (C₆H₅NH₃PbI₂Cl) and methylammonium triiodop lumbate(II) (CH₃NH₃PbI₃) . Best efficie ncy can be obtained for solar cell of copper(I) tetraiodomerc urate(Il) (Cu₂HgI₄) with Jsc (short circuit current density) = 1.1 18 mA cm⁻² , Voc (open circuit voltage) = 0.486 V, FF (fill factor) = 0.368,η% (efficiency) = 0.200%. Best result for solar cell of phenylammonium chlorodiiodoplumbate(II) (C₆H₅NH₃PbI₂Cl) is given when phenylammonium chlorodiiodoplumbate(Il) (C₆H₅NH₃PbI₂Cl) is used as photo sensiti zer while I₃⁻ / 1⁻ liquid electrolyte is used. Efficiency for solar cell of methylammonium triiod oplumbate (11) (CH₃NH₃PbI₃) is not high as research papers which mentioned that using of evaporated metal layer as counter electrode. Even though barium triiodocuprate(l) (BaCuI₃) was synthesized from hydrothermal method, X-ray diffractogram has peaks for unreacte d copper iodide.
