Development of trip schedules creator for Sri Lanka

Abstract

At the present time, scheduling trips through the internet has become a trend in the modern society. However, it is not strange at all to Sri Lanka. It appears that there are no good travel planning applications available in Sri Lanka. Therefore, the main objective of this research project is to introduce an effective and productive way to manage a trip and motivate people to travel around the country. As there are lot of natural, cultural and entertainment attractions in Sri Lanka, this application has been developed by considering many environmental factors and preferences of the people in Sri Lanka. Trip Schedules creator is a free application and facilitates to create a schedule for a trip to visit different places around the country. After deciding the start location and end location of a trip, it provides alternative routes and user can select the most appropriate route by considering factors such as the distance, duration and traffic conditions . Then, the user will be able to select various places to visit during the trip and the route will be updated according to the selected places. Apart from that, there are lots of other features available in the system such as add and edit places in the selected route, add time lags, find the fuel cost and, calculate the total distance and duration of the trip. Finally, user can print the customized map with the itinerary of the trip. This application gives an opportunity to schedule an enjoyable, relaxing and adventurous holiday trip effectively and easily. This is a user friendly application and it uses Google services and maps free of charge. This application can be upgraded for commercialized purposes by paying for advance features and increasing the usage limit in the future.
