dc.description.abstractInformation processing in most of the organizations in Sri lanka is done manually at present. With the developed world, whether they are trying to automate their information processes still they are not completed. In particular, government institutes and other organizations still follow this traditional approach. Such traditional information processing has several disadvantages, such as waste of time, waste of mandates and also the waste of materials. This research investigate an automatic approach in processing information for government institutes. It propose an automatic system for generating and conducting examinations to replace the existing system. The existing examination system is inefficient in practically. It also wastes the above resources such as time, mandates and materials. As a result this will lead to financial losses. The confidentiality of the existing examination system is low because in most instances the outsiders may involve to the system. And there is a possibility to occur human errors in the existing system. The new system should have to be developed to overcome above weaknesses in the existing system. So the proposed system has several important features such as online exam creation, answering and marking. A prototype system is developed and tested. Test results showed that the online system is more reliable and much faster than manual systems.
