dc.description.abstractMost of the dry zone areas in Sri lanka suffer from domestic water scarcity problem. Kotawehera is the most affected AGA division in the Kurunegala District due to that problem. Main objective of this research project is identification of highest scarcity GN divisions and proposing suitable water supply systems to overcome the water problem. Groundwater potential zones identified in the study area can be used to domestic water supply systems for villages where present water supplies are not adequate. Data collected from well survey, sociological study and geophysical surveys have been integrated with groundwater recharge study for development of sustainable water resources. Both quality and quantity aspects of water resource should be examined to find village water supply. Water potential areas and locations as potable water resources points were identified for village water supply. Groundwater is the ultimate water source for domestic water requirements Kotawehera.
