Abstract
Institute of Fundamental Studies (IPS) provides the facilities to all the Universities of Sri Lanka to conduct several join projects in different areas at collaboratively. However, there is no systematic way of informing the public about our investigations. Therefore, a computerized data based system will provide a platform for all the interested parties both local and international, to get a wide knowledge about our work referring our published results. Moreover, this will help for the researches in IPS at present as well as new students hoping to join the IPS in near future.
This report presents the details of the development of an information managemen t system. The Information Management System (IMS) developed for IPS includes publication library for research papers published by IPS, student's lecture material uploading section, subject discussion section and SMS alert system. Including all those important features with basic requirements of a web site for research institute. The information management system was tested with sample data and selected potential users. The results indicated that the system meets the requirements ofthe end users and functional reliably.
