Abstract
8-Hydroxyquinoline undergoes condensation polymerization reaction with formaldehyde in acidic medium yielding a polymer with approximate molecular weight of 3000. This polymer can be modified with resorcinol to get better physical properties. The polymer was chelated with different types of metal ions and checked their Light emitting properties taking Alq as the standard light emitting polymer.
