Abstract
In computer network environment, it is time consume and tedious process to install software packages for every clients in the network. Because, the computers may spread in several places in the organization with considerable distance among them. Although, there are some software in the market to fulfill these needs, there are some limitations to use them such as cost and some disadvantages they posses. So, it is important to find out a solution to install software packages in every client in a LAN which should address the above mentioned limitations by keeping the positive aspects in them. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to develop a user friendly application, called LAN manager, to manage software installation in a LAN environment. This application will allow software installation in client machines in a network via a central, potentially remote, location and therefore eliminate the need for physical presence of the administrator. The main objective of this project is to develop low cost and user-friendly platform independent software application to install software packages in the client computers without physically present of the administrators. The main expectation of this part of the project is to develop two software components LANManager, which running on the server and Client scripts, which running on the clients where the software package should be installed. The client scripts should also be created on the server and sent to the clients along with the software package. This application will be very useful to a system administrator to manage the LAN efficiently. Because, this software eliminates the tedious process of installing required software packages in each and every machine in such environment and also save the considerable money to purchase the commercial software having similar features. Most importantly, this software should keep the positive aspects that are available in such commercial software and overcome the disadvantages associated with them.
