Abstract

School Dental Service was started in 1953 under the Colombo plan which was introduced in 1950.Presently there 400 school dental therapists working in 370 school dental clinics island wide. These school dental clinics based in a central school usually and there are a cluster of schools attached to that based school. These school dental clinics of age are administered by medical Officer of Health in the relative region. he major roles of school dental therapists are, to treat all the diseases of deciduous tooth of children less than 13 years of age, to carry out reversible treatment of the permanent teeth of children less than 13 years of age and to give oral health education to children under 13 years of age. These school dental therapists serve even in schools of remote areas. They have to provide records of their treatments monthly, quarterly and annually. These records are submitted to the MOH by hand and via MOH. These records are sent to the DDHS office . All these records are prepared manually and it has several disadvantages, i.e. - it is inconvenient to the therapist, it is time consuming and there is a delay in sending the records. To overcome all these disadvantages a web based system in suggested.
