Design and implementation of a chat application with the observer pattern and the .NET remoting

Abstract

With ever increasing popularity of distributed technology, distributed applications have been developed and used in many areas. The .Net technology is one of the modern technologies facilitates in developing such applications. On the other hand reusable applications are needed to develop with the future requirements. Software design patterns have been introduced and widely used for reusable software design. In this project I investigated the applicability of .Net Remoting and using design patterns for the design and implementation of a chat application. This report presents the design and development of a chat application with .Net Remoting and the observer pattern. I learnt that the observer pattern and the .Net Remoting can successfully be used for distributed application such as a chat application.
