In the recent past a considerable scholarly attention was drawn to the Asia-Pacific region. This is because the centre of gravity of the world system has tended shift from the west to the east. The current world balance is one of multipolarity in global context of rapid processes of globalization and its concomitant, global inter-dependence. This proposition is ipso facto applicable to the Asia -Pacific region as well. Accordingly, the hub of the problem of this paper concern an analysis of the great-power interactions in the current global context. It deals with (1) the relationship between China and the United State, which is perhaps the most controversial relationship in the world today. (2) the relationship between the United State and Japan, a crucial relationship in the current world context. (3) the geo-political interaction between China and Russia (4) the conflict and co- operation between Japan and China and (5) the state of the Japan-Russia relationship. The concluding remarks will attempt to synthesize the finding of our over-all analysis.
